Who is this Warm-Hearted Top-Class Female Explorer Who Thrives in the Coldest Weather on Earth?!

Who is this Warm-Hearted Top-Class Female Explorer Who Thrives in the Coldest Weather on Earth?!

I am talking about a TRUE LEGEND here!

This woman is at the top echelon of Polar Explorers, and has written TWO Books which are important records of her exploits and first accomplishments – from her initial idea to full completion – in both the Arctic and Antarctic.  Her records provide valuable help and know-how for anyone who comes after her.  Also, she has educated a million or more young people about climate change who were able to follow reports of her expeditions. Now, based partly on her own experience, Climate Change has become both a deep concern and a personal cause for her.

Who is this amazing person?  More clues: She loves to sleep in a tent, prefers cold weather and deep skiable snow to warm climates, and does not mind time spent alone. She has competed head-to-head with men – beating them in cross-country ski races and venues! She was an educator before ever becoming a ski champion and explorer, and has used those skills to build a large following of young people concerned about climate.

Still do not know?  Ok.  Here is another good hint: This lovely strong woman has worked as a ski guide in Svalbard. She led the first all-women’s expedition across Greenland’s ice cap without a resupply. Later, after her groundbreaking solo ski to the South Pole, which is recounted in her book named below, she teamed up with the American explorer Ann Bancroft to cross the entire Antarctic Continent via skiing and kite sailing, setting yet another record!

Her wonderful book, Skiing into the Bright Open: My Solo Journey to the South Pole is available in English-speaking countries now, having finally been translated from its original Norwegian.

If there is anyone who does not know who this phenom is yet, here are another couple of hints -the last ones! For those of you who know about my daughter Alison Reynold’s ski trek across Norway in 2021, this legendary woman consulted with Alison and found her a terrific guide for the crossing – which occurred during a blizzard!  Also, she was kind enough to review my novel, A Tree for Antarctica.

I am sure by now that you ALL have figured out who this Polar Explorer Marvel and Climate Change Educator is………….LIV ARNESEN!

Please read her book. It will inspire you! You can click this link to learn more about the book and/or purchase it.
